Alex Harmon is a professionally trained musician who has been playing and performing music since the age of three. For the last five years, he has been recording and mixing audio both live and in the studio. He began playing piano and then expanded his study to include drums and percussion. He studied music performance with a focus in percussion at the University of Kentucky with Provost’s Distinguished Service Professor James B. Campbell. While always having a natural curiosity for audio technology, it was during this time that he began integrating this technology into his musical study. Soon, this turned into one of his primary studies, and he began recording and mixing audio both live and in the studio.
Currently, Alex is in his second year of graduate study in Recording Arts and Technology at Middle Tennessee State in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. Along with classwork, he teaches Recording Studio Fundamentals. This course is offered to undergraduates as an introduction to working in a studio and the techniques and technology within that environment. Outside of academia, he is active with his music production business, Alex Harmon Music, a complete production service that offers everything from recording through mastering. Furthermore, he remains an active percussionist and instructor throughout the Nashville, TN area. He has played on various recording sessions as well as teaching students privately. He works with Father Ryan High School as a percussion instructor and sound designer for their fall and winter competitive programs. Alex is a proud endorser of D’Addario and Evans Drumheads.
